BELLEVUE, Wash., USA — October 30, 2014 — Seagull Scientific, manufacturer of BarTender® labeling software, today announced that it has released a new label template to help food manufacturers and packagers meet the European labeling requirements scheduled to take effect in December 2014.
EU Regulation No 1169/2011 (Food Information to Consumers, or FIC) identifies 14 major categories of allergen that must be emphasized on a product’s ingredient label. The BarTender FIC label template automatically highlights any of the 14 allergens that appear on an ingredient label, enabling easy compliance with the new regulation.
“BarTender already contained everything necessary to format FIC-compliant labels,” said Chris Brown, Seagull Scientific’s General Manager, EMEA. “This new label template provides a straightforward way for partners and customers to make their existing ingredient labels FIC-compliant by simply copying the allergen formatting elements of the sample label.”
The new BarTender FIC allergen ingredient label template and accompanying white paper are available for download on the Seagull Scientific website, and will also be included in the company’s next service release.
